Major Function
World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world's largest conservation
organization, seeks a Manager, Donor Communications at our
Washington, DC headquarters to lead the production of high-quality
donor communications assets that educate, inspire, and present a
clear and compelling case for support of WWF's mission. This role
will collaborate with relationship managers from our individual
giving and foundations relations teams to develop strategic
messaging that conveys funding opportunities and stewardship
storylines that align with WWF's integrated conservation programs
and priorities. This individual will manage a robust portfolio of
writing assignments covering diverse global conservation
content-including solicitation materials like proposals and
concepts, as well as stewardship assets such as impact reports. In
tandem, the Manager, Donor Communications will manage one direct
report and oversee and refine production processes that ensure
efficient delivery of donor assets to fundraising teams. This role
reports to the Sr. Director, Donor Communications and Stewardship
and operates on a hybrid schedule, working in-person and from HQ a
minimum of two days a week.
Salary: The expected compensation range for this position is
$108,900 - $156,500.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to donor product development, strategies, and
protocols, managing a philanthropy writer and collaborating with
other teams to ensure the creation of high-caliber messaging and
assets.
- Represents the Donor Communications & Stewardship team in
integrated program and other conservation strategy discussions to
understand and address a balance of program and relationship
manager needs.
- Learns, implements, and collaborates to improve upon current
Donor Communications systems, donor product intake and templates,
and CRM reviews and assignment tracking.
- Collaborates with individual giving/foundations colleagues and
conservation program staff to develop compelling funding proposals
and concepts, reports, and donor communications collateral for WWF
priority programs.
- Supports the production of donor assets for a portfolio of
major institutional fundraising priorities by participating in
strategic discussions and producing donor materials.
- Becomes a content expert on WWF-US integrated programs and
represents Donor Communications and/or Development in internal
discussions.
- Partners closely with the Sr. Director, Donor Communications
and Stewardship, Deputy Director, Donor Communications, fundraising
teams, program team communicators, and conservation program
experts.
- Contributes thought leadership, staying knowledgeable of trends
in philanthropy, especially as relates to communications.
- Performs other duties and takes on other responsibilities as
required according to organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required along with a minimum of 8 years
of professional work experience as a writer.
- MUST HAVE at least 5 years experience with philanthropy writing
for high-net-worth individuals, communication strategy, AND project
management.
- Previous management experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively liaise and collaborate with a wide range
of stakeholders at different levels.
- Proven track record of developing and managing systems to
efficiently and successfully improve outcomes.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including
the ability to write in a range of voices and styles.
- Experienced and dependable proofreader and editor. Fluency with
style guides. Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong project management, analytical, and organizational
skills.
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects
simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to quickly learn about evolving conservation issues and
trends.
