We are presently searching for an Architectural Design Project Managerfor ourWashington, D.C.studio anda confidential client. TheProject Manager assumes full responsibility for planning, coordinating and administering projects.
Job Responsibilities


  • Position will be part of a team working in support of a client with a large campus in the Tysons/McLean area.
  • Design management on new, refresh, remodels, renovations, right size, relocations, rollouts, and concept test projects within the Real Estate and Property Development Department.
  • Ability to handle small to mid-sized quick turnaround projects per year, with a typical range of 100 - 5,000 SF each
  • Coordinates engineering work to ensure compliance with design concept
  • Acts as the liaison between client and architecture firm
  • Acts as the liaison with client consultants
  • Manages cross-function relationships, communications and day to day activities and deliverables between all stakeholders; and ensures successful delivery of program.
  • Must be able to work effectively with all levels of the client's staff, from board members to officers to line staff.
  • Coordinates project teams to ensure timely completion of documents
  • Works with design and technical teams to shape and understand the design concepts
  • Present and gains approval of concepts to the client kicks off new projects, managing the design process for internal activities and external vendors
  • Establishes and ensures adherence to set budget
  • Assign tasks, oversee work and provide feedback to staff assign to project
  • Create and maintain a master project schedule which captures all projects activities simultaneously
  • Lead weekly baseline project status and construction meetings and be responsible for creating, managing and communicating project logs and schedules
  • Manages overall client relationship from initial assessment of client needs, through design concept presentations and final delivery of projects.

    Education, Work Experience, Background, and Schedule

    • Graduate of architecture, design or business school: equivalent experience may be substituted
    • 8+ years' experience producing design projects
    • Hybrid schedule between DC Studio, Remote, and Required one day at Client Campus (T, W or Th).
    • Must take and pass a background check and drug screening test.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Preferred software - AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite
      • Extensive knowledge of materials, furnishings and construction methods related to interior architecture
      • Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements
      • Code review, compliance and application of all Federal, State and Local building codes, including but not limited to those necessary to ensure safe ingress/egress, safe operations and those pertaining to ADA requirements, etc.
      • Proven ability to solve contract and administration issues within the established design context
      • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
      • Advanced presentation and graphic communication skills
      • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with all levels of staff
      • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead all levels of staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise
