Current initiatives focus on health, fiscal and economic policy, and safety and justice, and take into account significant trends such as evolving technologies, and the increasing racial and ethnic diversity in the United States population.Our teams explore and advance effective, evidence-based policies using credible, timely, and accessible research, assessing public support for change, identifying approaches that have proved successful elsewhere, and bringing together diverse perspectives to find common ground. We work in collaboration with organizations that share our commitment to rigorous research, measurable results, and public service, and we focus on developing durable policy change. In addition, our teams use strategic outreach and dissemination to ensure that good information is widely communicated to decision-makers, media, influential stakeholders, and the public.Project OverviewState Health Solutions aims to build data-driven partnerships between state public health and Medicaid agencies to more effectively address preventable, high-priority diseases that affect the nation's underserved populations through the development of data-informed, effective, and equitable interventions, and the incentivization of health care providers to implement those interventions.The project will conduct research activities to inform the development of a blueprint for data partnerships between state Medicaid and public health agencies, partner with select states to implement the blueprint and assess its effectiveness and outcomes and scale the partnerships to additional states.Position OverviewThe senior manager oversees the execution of the project's objectives, develops and tracks progress on the project's workplan and milestones, leads and develops staff, manages the project's budget, ensures operational excellence and compliance with Pew policies, and assists with programmatic priorities as needed.The position, based in Pew's Washington D.C. office, reports to the project director, State Health Solutions and will participate in Pew's core in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will have flexibility to work from home the remainder of each week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country for which they are seeking employment without visa sponsorship.This position is contingent upon board approval in June 2024.Responsibilities

  • Foster a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible and in line with Pew and the project's related goals.
  • Develop and oversee overall project workplan to meet project objectives and deliverables and assist project director in strategy development, identifying milestones, and tracking progress toward goals of the TOP.
  • Support the project director with identifying future opportunities and strategic planning for the project.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of subject matter, including the policy landscapes, key stakeholders, and trends.
  • Apply experience and knowledge in working with state government agencies to develop engagement plan for the recruitment of states to execute partnership agreements for implementing Pew's blueprint for data partnerships between state Medicaid and public health agencies.
  • Manage overall strategic planning for operations and technical assistance that supports partner states in implementing blueprint.
  • Manage officer and state campaign senior associates by overseeing their tasks and supporting their professional development.
  • Manage relationships with external state level stakeholders and partnerships.
  • Serve as media and public spokesperson for the subject.
  • Participate in activities that support program and Pew-wide objectives.Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Generally, eight years of applicable experience in state health and/or public health policy, including demonstrated project management and coordination skills working with state government agency partners, and experience executing objectives to advance policy changes in states.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the operations, logistics, and governance protocols within state health agencies including Medicaid and health departments.
    • Minimum of three years of previous direct supervisory experience required, including experience managing performance management process for direct reports and providing career development advice and counsel.
    • Prior to commencing employment with Pew, candidates for this position who were registered to lobby in any jurisdiction must certify termination of previous registration(s) and provide copies of termination notices with said jurisdiction(s) to Pew.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience developing and managing productive relationships with a variety of external stakeholders and partners.
    • Seasoned judgement, skilled at making and justifying strategic recommendations and being responsive and clear with colleagues and partners.TravelThis position requires occasional overnight travel for meetings and conferences.Salary Range$142,800 USD - $159,600 USDThe salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay.
