Overview
The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a full-time, in-person coalitions associate to promote the work of AEI scholars and develop relationships with key leaders in think tanks, business organizations, nonprofits, community groups, and state and local governments across the country. The associate will be responsible for facilitating scholar-led outreach initiatives including large regional events. This role will include occasional domestic travel.
Qualified candidates should submit a resume, cover letter demonstrating their interest in AEI's mission, academic transcript, and 500-word writing sample on any topic. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible.
Responsibilities


  • Coalition Building and Relationship Management

    • Participate in internal and external networking opportunities, occasionally in the evening and on weekends.
    • Work closely with scholars to cultivate scholar-specific communities of interest, including by:

      • Planning and executing briefings, meetings, and events of various sizes;
      • Researching new contacts and audiences and developing relationships; and
      • Representing AEI in DC and around the country at events and conferences.


      • Marketing and Outreach

        • Manage book and material mailings.
        • Write and send emails using an email marketing program.

        • Event Planning and Logistics

          • Working with the coalitions team's leadership to execute large regional events.
          • Assist with building and maintaining AEI's virtual event platform, Swapcard.
          • Staff virtual and in-person coalitions events.
          • Attend events, including in the evenings and in locations that require travel.


            Physical Requirements and Working Conditions at AEI

            • The employee is regularly expected to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. This job requires close-up vision for computer work.
            • The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
            • The employee must be able to work in a confined area.
            • Moderate noise (e.g., from computers, phones, printers, and light traffic) is expected.

              Qualifications

              • A bachelor's degree (required)
              • At least two years of previous full-time work experience (required)
              • A demonstrated commitment to AEI's mission (required)
              • A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
              • Experience with a contact management database, such as Salesforce, and an email marketing system, such as Marketo (a plus)
              • Creativity and entrepreneurialism
              • Excellent interpersonal skills
              • Good judgment
              • Attention to detail
              • Strong writing and communication skills
              • The ability to meet tight deadlines and multitask
              • Enthusiasm for working on a well-integrated team

                Compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: scope and responsibilities of the position; a candidate's full-time, applicable work experience; key skills and qualifications; as well as internal and external market considerations. The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $58,000 - $65,000. Salary is just one component of AEI's total compensation package for employees.
