Job Duties
The Psychiatric Technician II is responsible to facilitate
individual and group programs through planned, spontaneous,
structured and unstructured activities that are provided consistent
with overall active treatment programming as well as consistent
with the individual patient's comprehensive treatment plan and
nursing care plan. In addition, this position provides leadership,
teaching and role modeling to other Direct Service Associate II who
function under the working title of Psychiatric Technician I and
performs direct nursing care duties. The position functions under
the supervision of a registered nurse.
Minimum Qualifications
A valid Driver's License- Must be able to effectively communicate,
interact positively and professionally with peers, other team
members and supervisors.- Demonstrated ability to follow written
and oral instructions; observe and accurately observe report and
describe observations and in writing.- Good comprehension of
English, spoken and written.- Must be able to learn and acquire
skills of basic care and treatment plans; to read, understand and
carry out individualized programs and to recognize and
appropriately react to behavioral, medical and other emergencies.-
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position to
include: standing, bending, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting up to
50 pounds and intervening with aggressive behaviors.- Must
successfully complete the facility's Pre-service training program
for Direct Support Professional Staff, to include Person Centered
Approach techniques, CPR/First Aid Certification, TOVA and
physical/behavioral management, for continued employment.
THIS IS AN EVENING SHIFT POSITION.
Additional Considerations
- Experience working with individuals with aggressive behaviors or
mental health issues- Related education or experience, either
personally or professionally, working with individuals with
developmental/intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, or
in the medical field- Prefer some knowledge of program activities
including recreation, leisure skills, communication, vocational,
and educational programming.
