Job Description:
Dr. Andrew Anderson and Dr. Catherine Ettman at Johns Hopkins
University have an opening for a Research Data Analyst. The
Research Analyst will work closely with both Dr. Anderson and Dr.
Ettman on 1) research coordination and project administration, 2)
data management, and 3) statistical programming and analysis. Drs.
Anderson and Ettman are health services researchers. Dr. Anderson's
work focuses on healthcare payment policies, delivery models, and
their influence on health disparities. Current projects include
studying the availability of high-quality Medicare plans, the
social determinants of Medicare plan choices, and the impact of
Medicaid policy on health services.Dr. Ettman's work focuses on
population mental health, financial assets, and policies across
sectors to improve health equity. Dr. Ettman leads the COVID-19
Life Impact on Mental Health and Well-being Study, which is a
longitudinal cohort study of U.S. adults tracking mental health,
economic indicators, stressors, and policy preferences. Current
projects focus on economic disparities across groups and mental
health and mental health services utilization. This position is
ideal for a candidate with a recent bachelor's degree who is
looking for full-time research experience before joining a PhD
program. Candidate will have opportunities to co-author
manuscripts. The candidate should plan to start in the late summer
of 2024, though the exact start date is flexible. This is a
one-year position with the possibility of renewal for an additional
year, pending funding availability.Specific Duties &
Responsibilities
- As a Research Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting
and advancing research initiatives focusing on health care
policies, delivery models, and their impact on health disparities.
You will also contribute to projects centered on population mental
health and health equity.Research coordination/project
administration (30%)
- Support management of graduate research assistants and research
budgets.
- Track project progress and complete annual reports for
funders.
- Assist in literature reviews as needed and in preparing and
revising manuscripts for publication.
- Support the development of grant applications and prepare
presentations.
- Assist with IRB renewals and applications and other projects as
needed.Statistical programming (30%)
- The Programmer will use Stata programming skills to conduct
analyses with longitudinal survey data, electronic health records,
and other data sources.
- The analyst will also be expected to have strong writing skills
to draft manuscripts based on the analyses.Data management (30%)
- Clean data, organize codebooks, and coordinate data management
across collaborators.
- Keep inventory of project files, documents, and data.
- Maintain files with code to projects for reproducibility.Other
(10%)
- Participate in team meetings and as needed, take minutes of
meetings for distribution to the team.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills are
needed to support multiple projects led by individual
investigators.
- Prepare research findings for conferences, workshops, and
seminars.
- Develop content for research briefs, policy reports, and other
dissemination materials.
- Maintain a database of publications, presentations, and other
dissemination activities.
- Other responsibilities as needed.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience to
the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred
Qualifications
- Longitudinal data experience.
- Prior work experience in an academic or research setting in
healthcare or public health.
- An understanding of economics and econometrics is strongly
encouraged.
- Experience with Python or SQL encouraged.Classified Title:
